I'm going to pick the rifle up this weekend, and I'll try to post a few pics of it next week. I guess I'll just leave well enough alone, and not mess with the stock. I was wondering if the "crack" wasn't really a crack, as it follows exactly the same line on both sides of the stock, and the grain of wood is slightly different above and below the "splice". Keep the original stock, do not sand or in any way refinish it.Ī messed with stock kills the collectability of a Japanese rifle. A Type 38 stock will not fit a T 99, nor vice versa.
Join Date Dec Location Charlotte, NC Posts 15, Sounds ok, like beebz said the crack is a splice not a defect. The lower piece of the stock is a seperate piece of wood that is dovetailed into the stock.
